About

Edith Metzger, CPA

Twelve years of accounting and finance across private equity, corporate accounting, and most recently as CFO of a multi-unit restaurant company. She has sat on the operator's side of the books she is now reconciling, which is a different vantage point than most tax preparers bring.

Why this practice exists

Most people do not need a large firm. They need someone credentialed who answers the phone, files on time, and explains the return in plain language before it goes anywhere. That is the whole idea here. A deliberately small practice where the person preparing your return is the person you spoke with.

Having run finance inside a company, Edith has been on the receiving end of accounting work that arrived late or arrived wrong. That shapes how this practice handles deadlines and how much explaining comes with the work.

Background

Private equity

Fund and portfolio-company accounting, where the reporting calendar does not move and the detail has to hold up to scrutiny.

Corporate accounting

Close cycles, reconciliations and controls inside larger finance organizations.

Chief Financial Officer

Ran finance for a multi-unit restaurant company, covering payroll and tip reporting, city-level TPT, and margins measured in pennies.

Away from the desk

Edith lives in the Phoenix area with her husband and their two daughters, and spends most of her time outside of work being their mom. It is also the reason she understands a family's return is not an abstraction. It is next year's plans.
